Abstract

This paper deals with the vision of Africa in the world and the position of Nigeria in the achievement or the realization of the Africa vision. Africa has chosen to embark on a long time target, with various reforms, policies, vision and strategic development programs and plans, all channeled towards achieving a better and a good Africa. In this paper it was revealed that the African union has conceived and put in place its vision for it continent in the next 50years, this vision is tagged vision 2063. This paper uses critical research method to compare and contrast, and also analyze the vision of the continent Africa and how it could be achieved considering the difference among the countries that makes up the continent. This African vision, agenda 2063 the goal of having an Africa that is rich and successful based on growth and development that is sustainable, also it purpose to have a continent that is politically united, a continent of good leadership and good governance, a collection of countries with respect for it citizen, human right, democracy, justice and rule of law. Agenda 2063 foresee an African that is peaceful and safe for people to live. Africa with common history, tradition, qualities, values, ethics and strong cultural identities. An Africa where it people drives it development making good use of the potentials of it women and youth. In this paper, Nigeria’s role in the achievement of the Africa’s vision was really emphasized. Nigeria as one of the top countries in Africa, in size, population and economy has its own impart on the achievement of the vision of its continent Africa. Nigeria as a nation has set for itself goals to pursue which will in turn bring about to achievement of the vision of Africa, such as the vision 20: 2020. The seven point agenda by late president Umaru Musa Yar’Adua which covers the basic areas of (a) power and energy, (b) food and security and agriculture, (c) wealth creation and employment, (d) mass transportation, (e) land reforms, (f) security (g) good education. The achievements of this set goals will definitely cause a rise to the spirit of enterprise by the Nigerian hence reduces poverty in Nigeria and Africa at large. As Nigeria practical execute the plans of achieving vision 20:20:20. The success in the achievement of vision 2020is highly imperative in the achievement of vision 2063.
