
He was born in Kırıkkale in 1975 and completed his primary and secondary education there. In 1994, he enrolled in the Department of Animal Science at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University. He graduated with honours in 1997, earning the title of Agricultural Engineer. In September 1997, he began his master’s studies in the Division of Feeds and Animal Nutrition, Department of Animal Science, at the Institute of Natural Sciences, Ankara University. In October 2000, he successfully passed the competitive examination for the position of Research Assistant in the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Yüzüncü Yıl University, and was subsequently appointed to the position. In January 2001, he completed his master’s thesis entitled “The Effects of Barley’s Physical Form on the Rearing of Weaned Kids” and received the title of Senior Agricultural Engineer. In September 2001, in accordance with Article 35 of Law No. 2547 on Higher Education Institutions, he was assigned as a Research Assistant to the Department of Animal Science at the Institute of Natural Sciences, Çukurova University, to pursue his doctoral studies. In 2002, he worked as a researcher for three weeks at ICARDA in Syria under a scholarship programme. In 2005, after being awarded an Erasmus-Socrates scholarship, he was assigned to the University of Hohenheim in Germany for six months. He received the TÜBİTAK Incentive Award twice in 2007 and once each in 2008 and 2009. He also served as the project coordinator for a collaborative study conducted with the University of Hohenheim, Germany, entitled “Einfluss einiger Pflanzenextrakte und schädlichen Stoffe in verschiedenen Dosierungen auf die Fermentation bei Einsatz von Total Mixed Ration (TMR), Kraftfutter und Heu” (The Influence of Certain Plant Extracts and Harmful Substances at Various Dosages on Fermentation When Using Total Mixed Ration [TMR], Concentrates, and Hay). Since 2000, he has participated in registered international conferences focusing on poultry nutrition and has authored more than 100 published works. Within his field of expertise, he has served in editorial roles for several international journals, including as an advisory faculty editor and a technical editor. Under the Erasmus programme, he was assigned to deliver lectures for one week in 2011 at the Faculty of Agriculture and Biotechnology, University of Technology and Life Sciences, Poland, and again in 2013 at the Department of Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Animal Science, Kaposvár University, Hungary. In 2014, he was assigned for one week to deliver lectures at the Department of Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Animal Science, Latvia University of Agriculture. He also served as the Faculty’s Erasmus and Farabi Coordinator between 2013 and 2016 and as the Faculty Farabi Coordinator from 2013 to 2018. In 2022, he graduated with honours from the Department of English Translation and Interpreting at the School of Foreign Languages, Siirt University. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at Virginia State University for two years. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Animal Science at the Faculty of Agriculture, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. He has completed his military service and is married with two children.
