Abstract
The research and extension system of India has brought self-sustenance in food grains by its extensive work. However, the inventions in Agriculture and allied sectors needs improvement with rising challenges like population and climate change. Therefore, it is important to study in depth on inventive behaviour of Farm Scientists. The study aimed in understanding the dimensions of Inventive Behaviour of Farm Scientists. The sample for the study includes 199 Farm Scientists of six Agricultural Universities of Karnataka across the state. Inventive Behaviour scale with the dimensions such as creative potential, inventive proneness, risk bearing ability, planning ability, technical competency and decision-making abilities were examined. The results showed high level of creative potential, risk bearing ability and planning in research but the low inventive proneness is discouraging. Consequently, the Universities could organize the programmes to improve the scientists capabilities to visualize inventions and an invention supportive environment establishment.
